Abstract

تتناول هذه المذكرة موضوع مذكرات الأسرى في الجزائر العثمانية، باعتبارها مصدرًا تاريخيًا يعكس جوانب متعددة من الحياة السياسية والعسكرية والاجتماعية خلال القرنين السابع عشر والثامن عشر. انطلقت الدراسة من تحليل ظاهرة الأسر نفسها داخل الجزائر، من حيث التعريف بالأسرى، أعدادهم، جنسياتهم، وظروف أسرهم، ثم انتقلت إلى دراسة أوضاعهم داخل الإيالة، بما في ذلك المعاملة، أماكن الإقامة، وآليات الافتداء. وفي شقها الثاني، ركزت المذكرة على القيمة التاريخية والسياسية لمذكرات الأسرى، وكيف تحوّلت إلى أدوات استخباراتية ودعائية مهّدت لاحقًا للغزو الفرنسي عام 1830. وجرى تقديم نماذج بارزة مثل تيدنا، سيمون شلوصر، ودييغو دي هايدو، وتحليل ما دوّنوه عن الجزائر. خلُصت الدراسة إلى أن هذه المذكرات، رغم طابعها الذاتي، شكّلت إحدى أدوات بناء الصورة السلبية عن الجزائر في الوعي الأوروبي وأسهمت في صياغة الخطاب الاستعماري.

This thesis explores the topic of captives' memoirs in Ottoman Algeria, considering them a valuable historical source that reflects multiple aspects of political, military, and social life during the 17th and 18th centuries. The study begins by analyzing the phenomenon of captivity in Algeria, focusing on the identity, number, nationalities, and circumstances of the captives. It then examines their conditions within the Regency, including treatment, places of residence, and the mechanisms of ransom. The second part of the research highlights the historical and political significance of these memoirs and how they evolved into intelligence and propaganda tools that eventually contributed to France’s invasion of Algeria in 1830. Prominent examples such as Tedina, Simon Schlosser, and Diego de Haëdo are discussed, with an analysis of their writings on Algeria. The study concludes that, despite their subjective nature, these memoirs played a key role in shaping a negative image of Algeria in European thought and supported the colonial narrative.
